Friends of Parks groups are residents who work together to improve a specific park. They do this through a range of activities, such as organising community events, managing habitats, educating school children, carrying out gardening days, and getting involved in management decisions about the park.
The Friends of Foxham gardens have been active since 2013. We have established Fields in Trust (https://fieldsintrust.org/) status for the park, raised funds to renovate the hut into a community cafe and run lots of small scale improvement / educational events.
We meet about once a quarter to discuss community ideas for the park, set up fund raising activities, discuss any concerns or issues with the park. We are sometimes lucky enough to have a member of the councils park team with us at the meeting to keep us informed of activities in the park. This is a great opportunity to work with the council to help them to know what the local community want to get out of the park.
Our next meeting is on April 16th. If you want to keep up to date with the groups activities please join our google group by clicking here https://groups.google.com/g/friends-of-foxham-gardens
Thanks and we hope to see you at our next meeting.
